The Name of the Star.

The day Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux arrives in London marks a memorable occasion. For Rory, it's the start of a new life at a London boarding school. But for many, this will be remembered as the day a series of brutal murders broke out across the city, gruesome crimes mimicking the horrific Jack the Ripper in the autumn of 1888.

Soon "Rippermania" takes hold of modern-day London, and the police are left with few leads and no witnesses. Except one. Rory spotted the man police now believe to be the prime suspect. But she is the only one who saw him. Even her roommate, who was with her at the time, didn't notice the mysterious man. So why can only Rory see him? And more urgently, why has Rory become his next target? In this edge-of-your-seat thriller, full of suspense, humor, and romance, Rory will learn the truth about the secret ghost police of London and discover her own shocking abilities

Ok where to begin this was the book I chose to start 2012 out with and I don't regret it at all! It took me awhile to read but not because of the book its self I just never had time. The Plot was pretty amazing of course I'm a huge fan of unusual ideas and this is most definitely one.The protagonist is Rory a southern girl from A small swamp town in Louisiana whose family decides to pick up and to England(I wish my parents where that awesome). on the day of her arrival news of 'New Ripper' Is in the air. Not really worried by any of it Rory goes on living her life at her posh boarding school making friends and love interests as she goes. Unbeknownst to her that she would be at the center of the rippermania but even more shocking is who or what this new ripper is. Filled with adorable roommates cute boys, Ripper trivia, gory killings and oh yeah GHOSTS. This book is definitely a must read  for those of us who are tired of the same old same old YA books so props to you Maureen Johnson for writing a really interesting and unique book!
